A lot of brides get overwhelmed when trying to select what type of flowers they want to use for their wedding day. Most of the time the bride has a solid idea of what they DON’T like, but choosing the flower combination for their wedding is much harder than they expected. Many times during a floral appointment, they are shown flowers that they have never seen or thought about incorporating into their wedding day. Obviously, if a good florist is chosen, they will be able to guide the bride and help her with the floral decisions. If you are a bride that is determining your floral for your wedding, consider the time of year and the location of the wedding. Cut Flower Wholesale is a very helpful website with a flower catalog and it shows which months the flowers are available. You can also search by color, month or by the type of flower.
Here are some of my favorite flower choices for different seasons:
Fall: Dahlia, Chrysanthemum, Zinnia, Hydrangea, Hyacinth
Spring: Sweet Pea, Tulip, Calla Lily, Ranunculus, Larkspur, Iris
Summer: Calla Lily, Daisy, Hydrangea, Peony, Sweet Pea
Winter: Anemone, Tulip, Calla Lily
Available Year Round: Gardenia, Lily of the Valley, Orchid, Rose, Stephanotis, Stock, Snapdragon, Freesia, Delphinium, Gerber Daisy, Bells of Ireland, Hydrangea,
Remember these are just a few that make me smile. There are several varieties of certain flowers plus different costs associated with them. We suggest for brides to determine from the beginning of the planning process how important of a role they want floral to play. I must say, looking at all these photos of colorful flowers gets me in the mood for spring.
Which flowers will make the “cut” at your special day?
