Two things that we strive to do as a company: create Outstanding experiences and build Outstanding relationships. It is more than about the wedding or event day. It begins before the client even becomes an actual client. It starts with the first interaction that a client has with your company, whether it is on your website or talking to you or someone at your company on the phone or in person. Today, I wanted to share with you a another company that just gets it and strives daily to make the experience even better: Melissa Jill Photography.
I took a client to meet with Melissa Jill a week ago. Melissa greeted each of us at the door with a smile. She had fun, but quiet background music playing. Her home studio was spotless (well, until I accidentally spilled a coke on her rug later!) She had the information about the bride neatly organized on her clipboard. The client and I both sat down on her comfy sofa and Melissa told us that she was going to let us watch a short compilation of some of her wedding photos. Melissa walked out of the room and allowed us both to view the photos without Melissa talking about any of them. (So many photographers want to tell you everything about every photo and the client never really gets to look at them, because they are too busy trying to listen to the photographer.) It was so great! Immediately after the film was over, Melissa came back into the room with a tray of three champagne glasses filled with sparkling apple cider and an array of chocolates, fruit and cookies. Melissa handed us the drinks and then she asked the bride how she met the groom and where he proposed. Melissa allowed the bride to tell her story and then Melissa jotted down notes. Next, she handed the bride the red box of delight (aka her new client kit!)
The bride was excited to open the beautifully packaged box. Her eyes lit up when she saw the round sticker with her name and the groom’s name. It was almost as if it had finally sunk in that she was engaged. She was beaming ear to ear. After opening the package, Melissa explained all of the information that was included: tips for getting your best wedding images, a vendor list, and her packages. She also told her about the two magazines that she had included in the box as a gift. Melissa went on to explain her packages and pricing and show the albums so that the bride knew all of her options. After Melissa showed us everything, she asked the bride if she had any questions. She answered all of the bride’s questions with confidence and a smile. At the end, she offered us the remaining goodies that she had brought out. We both resisted the temptation to walk out with the whole tray. Melissa walked us to the door and wished us a wonderful day. The next day, Melissa called to follow-up about the meeting and asked if either of us had any questions.
The experience was OUTSTANDING! Kudos to you Melissa Jill!
Unfortunately, the parents of the bride do not live in the United States, so they were unable to attend the meeting. The mother was able to visit Melissa’s website though and she was very impressed with Melissa and her work. Journey over to Melissa Jill’s website and you will also see why she was so impressed. It covers everything and is so clean and organized.
So, today our hats go off to Melissa! Not only are you a great person, but you are a true professional and are definitely setting the bar for not only Arizona photographers, but photographers and businesses all over the country!
Do you know other companies that you think offer a great experience? Feel free to share.
