Brides often ask us when doing a plated dinner, “Is it best to choose a duo plate (like the photo above) or provide pre-selected choices for dinner?” We always inform brides of the pros and cons of either way.
For example, the beauty of a duo plate is that the guests get the option right at their fingertips (beef with fish or beef with chicken, just to name a few). Also, by choosing a duo plate you can ensure that the staff will get everyone their correct entree. When planning to offer a selection for dinner, careful pre-planning is needed on the catering side as well as from the bride and groom. By listing the selected entrees on the response card, the guests will check which meal they would prefer. Mind you, some response cards come back blank and some response cards come back with an option that isn’t even offered. Oh yes, it does and will happen :) In order to ensure that each guest is served the correct choice, the place cards can have one color or one graphic image for each selection so that the wait staff only needs to see the color or image to determine which plate goes where. But come on people, how many of us keep our place cards handy once we know what table we are to be seated at and much less, in view of the attendants serving dinner? You see where I am going with this right? I am a big believer in combination plates! All guests receive the correct meal and at the same time.
Throwing a wedding takes lots of planning. Why not remove one less thing off your plate (PUN INTENDED)?
